In the library media center (LMC):
We encourage reading and literature appreciation
We study authors, illustrators and genres of literature
We promote award winning and award nominated books
We teach the students to find books and other materials in the LMC, which can relate to leisure time interests
We demonstrate how to locate information in various resources so the students can become effective users of information
We strive to promote a desire to become a life long reader and learner
These skills are introduced in grades one and two and developed further in grades three and four
*****Parents, please help your children to remember to bring back any of their library materials that are checked out by the next library class.  Even if they want to renew materials, they need to bring them in to do that.  It can be tricky to keep track of the library day with the rotating schedule, so please review with your child the night before if it is their library day the next day so that they can pack up their library materials.  Thank you so much for helping your child to bring back their library materials on time!

Under Elementary Schools, click on the "Griffin Memorial School" link. Thank you to everyone who supported the Scholastic Book Fair, which raised a little over $2,000 for the GMS library!  A special thank you for all of the volunteers who helped out at the book fair.  It couldn’t be done without your help!

Great Stone Face Children's Book Award Nominees for 2011-2012               

          2011 Ladybug Picture Book Nominees          
 The 2011 New Hampshire Ladybug Picture Book Award Winner is Memoirs of a Goldfish by Devin Scillian!  The most popular book at GMS was Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein.  This was a close vote!  There were over 19,000 votes and Memoirs of a Goldfish only won by 12 votes!
